Apple: Tak Perlu “Backdoor” Jika Password Apple ID iPhone Tak Diubah

Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) diketahui telah mengubah password Apple ID iPhone milik pelaku teror penembakan di San Bernardino kurang dari 24 jam usai dikantongi mereka. Apple mengklaim tindakan FBI itu malah menutup akses untuk membukanya.

Seperti dilansir Buzzfeed, Apple mengatakan bahwa mereka kemungkinan bisa mendapatkan akses backup informasi yang diminta pemerintah jika saja FBI tidak mengubah password Apple ID di iPhone milik pelaku teror bernama Syed Farook tersebut.

The Apple executives said the company had been in regular discussions with the government since early January, and that it proposed four different ways to recover the information the government is interested in without building a backdoor. One of those methods would have involved connecting the iPhone to a known Wi-Fi network and triggering an iCloud backup….

Apple sent trusted engineers to attempt that method, the executives said, but they were unable to do it. It was then that they discovered that the Apple ID password associated with the iPhone had been changed….

FBI malah meminta Apple untuk menciptakan tool bernama “backdoor” untuk mendapatkan akses informasi dari iPhone yang dilindungi enkripsi tersebut. Apple sebelumnya telah menyatakan bahwa akses “backdoor” sangat berbahaya apabila bisa diciptakan.
